SHAH ALAM: The killing of a man in front of a school in Seri Kembangan last Thursday could be over drugs.

Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor said investigations so far revealed that the deceased was linked with gang-related activities.

“We discovered that the case has a specific motive and I do not deny the involvement of elements of drug trafficking in this incident. The deceased is also being linked with Gang 08.

“We are looking into that angle. I do not want to comment on turf war, but our investigations are moving towards drug trafficking,” he said after witnessing the Selangor police’s exercise in preparation for the upcoming general election near Shah Alam High Court here today.

Mazlan added that it was unfortunate that the incident had to happen in front of a school.

“It’s a case which coincidentally took place in front of a school while he was waiting for his son. This is something we don’t want to happen,” Mazlan said.

The man identified as G. Ganeshan, 39, was shot dead by two gunmen at the bus stop of a primary school when he was waiting for his son to finish classes.

The brazen incident took place in front of several parents and passers-by who were also waiting for the school’s afternoon session to end.

A parent in his 30s also suffered a gunshot wound after a stray bullet struck him on his back.

So far, police recovered eight 9mm bullet shells at the bus shelter where the gunmen shot dead Ganeshan.
